I’ve Had It

I’ve discovered a delightful podcast on Youtube. On my way to work I’ve started joining Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan and their special guests on “I’ve Had It” and I’ve allowed this comedic, feel-good podcast expose me to all the things I didn’t know I’ve had it with! I don’t know how long this podcast has been going or where we supposed to know these two luxuriously salacious bottle blond middle-aged women from, but I’m here fot it. They’re somehow keeping it simultaneously tight, snatched and yet loose.

So let me tell you what I’ve had it with: movie trailers that might as well show you the whole damn movie! Seriously, what do you expect me to laugh with in the theatre or by myself on my sofa (and yes, I’m one of those weirdos who will laugh out loud all by himself) if I’ve already seen the best jokes in the trailer? How do you still expect me to be surprised, when you’ve given away a major plot twist in your farkakta mini preview movie? How dumb do you expect people to be, really? Trailers need to come with a blaring spoiler alert these days! I rather just start watching a movie without knowing much about it and take the risk that it’s going to be a dud. The things I’ve enjoyed the most on TV are movies and series I hadn’t really heard about and at least partly took me my surprise, which is hard enough to do, as everything seems to have already been done before anyway. It may turn out that the movie I watched didn’t do well at the box office or that a series was cancelled after one or two seasons, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take.

While I’m at it, I might as well confess that I’ve had it with critics. I have a modicum of patience with the wannabe critics spewing their unsolicited opinion on the internet for free, but people who get paid to projectile vomit their mostly negative opinions on social media make me physically ill, then again that might be because I’m visualising the projectile vomiting part.

At least one can get away from it all for a bit in Second Life™. Sure, there are bound to be some things in there you’ve had it with too, but occasionally you’ll find yourself roaming around on a tranquil sim like Summer Trace, helping you let go of some of that low key resentment. Obviously nothing in Second Life is ever going to fix a deep-seated resentment for whatever truly ails you in real life, but when it comes to soften the little niggles, I find daydreaming in virtual surroundings sufficiently effective, every now and again. It’s a bit sad that largish swathes of land on this sim are taken up by private residences, but on the other hand that does come with a opportunity to cam inside the dwellings and “appreciate” the interior design choices… Mumbles: “doilies…” *tuts*
