One of the more costly items one can purchase in Second Life™ to make the most of one’s avatar’s appearance, is a mesh head. These puzzled me at first, as did mesh bodies for that matter. I didn’t quite know yet why some avatars looked so smooth and polished, while I was seeing unsightly creases and angles in my poor little “system” avatar. Somewhere along the line, after spending some weeks in-world, I discovered mesh bodies. Back then, in 2016, mesh heads were already on the scene as well, but they were far more limited. The chanse of running into your almost identical twin was much higher back then. We had to wait until the arrival of Bento to get fully customisable mesh heads. Lelutka has been my favorite brand for a while now and currently one of their mesh heads will set you back L$3,990. At the time of posting, you’ll pay 17.69 USD (that includes the fees) for that amount of Lindens. Sure, there are more useful things you could do with that money, but will they be as much fun?
So I treated myself to another Lelutka head. It’s named Eon and it’s been around for a while, but I’ve had my eye on it for, well… eehm… a while. That’s so me, just whiling the time away, waiting for who knows what. Anyhoo, Eon is a great canvas for one of Birth’s newer skin creatons, named Vanguard. Birth tend to showcase their skins on Eon, so I knew it was going to be a good fit. Of course I had to create my own shape for it, to make it more “my own”, but any Birth skin will come with the shape they used for their own poster, so in theory this could be your one-stop shop. Well, two stop shop anyway. You get the head from Lelutka and the skin from Birth and use their shape. Okay, maybe a three stop shop if you feel like you need new hair. Sooo, maybe five stops if you haven’t got a mesh body yet? Oh, and a while ago (oh, another “while”!) Birth started aligning their mesh head skins with body skins from Velour, so you may have to hit that place to. What’s that you say? Madness? Bit pricey for “a game”? “How dare you”, we mutter threatningly under our collective breaths, “Second Life isn’t a game, it’s raison d’être!”
Eeehm. Right. Time for the CREDIIIIITS! And exceptionally, I’m mentioning prices, valid at the time of posting. To get a better look at the details, make sure to check out the full sized image on Flickr.
