As far as I’m aware, this blog doesn’t have much of a following, so it’s only the rarest of regular reader who may have noticed that the regularity of my blog posts has greatly diminished since the beginning of 2023 and even more so over the course of this past year. Second Life™ is one of those things one can get very much engrossed in for quite some time and then one slowly lets it slip, bit by bit. That’s fine though, right? It’s good to have more interests, right? Like being married to your fucking job and the bitch doesn’t even remember that it’s your bloody 25th anniversary and then when she finally does remember, offers you a gift that’s a fucked up slap in the face. There, that should be enough F-bombs to demonetise this post… Oh wait, this blog isn’t monetised to begin with! Silly fucked up dumb ass me. What am I like?
Isn’t it weird that I’m referring to my employer as “she” in this analogy. I’m gay, so if I’m married to my job, I should at least imagine it’s a man, right? I’m not usually misogynist. I’m now imagining lying on the couch with some Freud-like character thoughtfully stroking his beard (an actual beard, not his wife covering for his closeted homosexuality) and asking: ‘and zwhere do you tzink tzis gendering of your workplace comes from?’ Fuck me if I know, doc. I’m weird, ok. And mostly, I’m fine with that. I don’t know what normal is, bit I have a sneaky suspicion I don’t want to be it.
Anywhoo, back to SL. It still upon occasion is a nice little escape from reality for some hours. I’ll grab something from the little stash of items that’s available to me as a blogger for Noche and Birth and then start thinking of what kind of scene I could be setting. In my mind the whole think kinda has to make sense. What I’m wearing has to go with the scene, for me. As time has gone by, I’ve started feeling more and more that it gets a bit boring with always just one avatar in the image. Most of the time I try to create more of a story, as fancy arty-farty photographers would call it, by popping in at least one other avi and often two or more. It all gets a bit intense and one finds that time moves differently in SL. While your real life body is sagging, crumbling and generally just breaking down over the hours you’re sat on your chair tinkering away at your avatar, in SL mere seconds may have past. Well will you look at that, I’ve aged another 20 years. Time to leave you with the credits and go suck the life force out of some children… Too late for a Hocus Pocus reference?
