Here we are again with just a little relaxing avatar styling session, with no particular hook to tie in a subject with anything I’m wearing. Sometime you just gotta go random. Picture it: July 2025, it’s finally hot in Stockholm and the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Meanwhile I’m zoning out with a glass of chilled white wine like some basic Karen, tinkering away at my virtual dolls, making them look so forking pretty it hurts. What the fork? Why can’t I say fork? That’s so me, randomly throwing in a little “The Good Place” reference for no particular reason. I forking love that show.
Are things really that bad though, or am I just middle aged? Maybe I’m following U.S. politics a little too closely. That definitely is a mind space where mental health goes to die. I used to not care about it at all, as I naively wondered what the hell the US had to do with my life in Europe? As it turns out, quite a lot. But it’s important to take regular breaks from that circus. A day that has gone by without listening to or watching anything that mentions a pathologically lying walking Cheeto, is a good day indeed, even if your TV has asked you twice if you’re still watching and you’ve become inextricably “as one” with the couch.
Alternatively, I go back to my old hobby for a bit, and go sit somewhere on a bench for a spot of knitting. Mind you, while that is an actively mindful way to stay away from politics for a day, it does also feel like a mildly rebellious activity. A 6 ft 4″, overweight, quasi disheveled, middle aged MAN sitting there in plain sight, KNITTIN! would have some particularly conservative people do a double take. It’s so deliciously unmanly! But of course, this is Sweden, where most people mind their own forking business and don’t feel like the way they live their lives, needs to be the way everybody lives. Truth be told, the knitting has only brought me positive remarks so far. That’s my rebellious streak thwarted, but I guess I could always give guerilla knitting a go. Also, I have a recurring fantasy of my knitting needles doubling up as blowguns with tranquilizer darts. So I like a bit of peace and quiet, sue me!
